About a year ago, I created a video on Open-Source apps for kids, featuring GCompris as a great learning app.
Today I was looking for a similar app for Android, but I quickly came out at paid alternatives like Squla. Now, I'm not saying it's not worth paying for software like that, but looking at online reviews I found that most people found it pretty bad value for money.
I saw people saying that kids would like it for a short while but quickly loose interest. I also saw people complaining that it would teach kids how to answer the questions posed to them, but not actually learning the teaching materials behind it.
Obviously I didn't care to pay for an app that wouldn't be an asset in our kids learning journey. So I checked if GCompris might be available on Android as well. Guess what! It is!
You can find links to both the Google Play Store and the Microsoft store on the the GCompris KDE project page and the Official website!
I'd say this is pretty cool! And the price is pretty great for about any budget: It's free both as-in bee... err, lemonade, and as in speech!
